It was never my intention to stop writing here, but life gets in the way. It does that. In this case there were other aspects of my music writing career (books, freelance gigs) that began to cut into my time with The QH Blend.
However, if I’m honest, I was aware early last year that I was ready to transition to those stated mediums that were beginning to pull me from this space.
I was ready to grow and challenge myself as a writer.
When I started The QH Blend, it was to give a critical voice to the music I enjoyed. Now, standing at the summit of a decade of writing professionally, I’m ready to keep moving forward with my “Record Redux” book line and more freelance gigs in larger publications.
I want to thank everyone who supported me when I first entered the online writing community in 2008. When I transitioned to WordPress in 2013, it was to signify an upgrade from my initial ramblings and I think I accomplished that.
I will do my best to curate the site and keep it open as a point of reference, but for now I will be placing The QH Blend into a form of semi-retirement.
I can be found on Twitter (@TheQHBlend) or you can email me (firstname.lastname@example.org / RecordReduxBooks@outlook.com). If you want to know more about my stated book series, check me out here on Facebook.
Keep your ears and hearts open everyone, thank you. – Quentin
Hello readers. I apologize for being away so long, but the year has really taken off for me. I’m sure that many of you are aware that my first independently published book, ‘Record Redux: The Spice Girls’, has been gearing up for its debut in July 2016. As a result of the constant work on this project, I haven’t had the time to devote to my own space.
It’s with much disappointment that I’m announcing a small break for the summer season. Between the book and my day job, I don’t have the time I need to devote to this site. I’ve also slowed down on any and all freelance projects too. In particular, the 20th anniversary marker (next Saturday) for Paula Abdul’s third LP Head Over Heels (1995) had been planned for The QH Blend. For now, it will have to be delayed until after the summer.
I appreciate your support and look forward to returning sometime in late August or early September.-QH
Readers! See how you made The QH Blend one of the must-read blogs of the year! Here’s to 2015!
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 11,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Hello all! As the title states, I’m taking a brief hiatus while I handle some other odds and ends in my life. I will be back in December with my “Records of 2014” entry so keep your eyes peeled. I appreciate those that have continued to check in and support The QH Blend. See you sooner than you think.-QH
Kelis getting her holiday on
Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you all enjoying your summer. It has been a crazy year thus far and I’m going to be taking a bit a breather for the rest of July. I will return in August with new content to share, I’ve also written for PopMatters and Blogcritics recently―see my archives for links to those essays. Thanks again to all those reading.
By the way, if you’ve never heard (or seen) the fantastic summer jam “4th of July (Fireworks)” by Kelis, which is where the photo is from, do yourself a favor and click here. Be well. Q.
Hello everyone & happy holidays! 2013 is pretty much over & I have to say The QH Blend relaunch was a resounding success. I want to thank every reader who took time to take part in what I am creating here. Your support is never undervalued & is always appreciated. As for me, I’m taking a well deserved rest for a bit to recharge, focus on some other projects & just live. I will return in January sometime with new material. Take care everyone & see you in 2014!-QH
What my record and comic book collections look like…
I’m moving to Georgia y’all. Atlanta actually. I’ve been here since late April, getting my life up and running. Well, it’s galloping now, my life that is. That means I have to fly back to Ohio to transport my large comic book and (you guessed it) record collection down to my spiffy new studio apartment.
I’ll be back in August. I really hope you’ve enjoyed the recharged site; it has been a pleasure writing on The QH Blend this year. I’ve still got some stuff to share. Enjoy the rest of July, see you next month. Q.
